We are excited to welcome you back for the 2025–2026 school year!
It is with great joy that I share this good news with you first. The school has created a new position tailored to address our students’ management, behavioral needs, and counseling support. After thoughtful consideration and research into best practices, this role has been titled “Behavior and Wellness Coordinator.”
The purpose of this position is to provide structured guidance and support for students’ overall well-being—helping them thrive both academically and personally. In defining this role, we studied similar positions and identified the essential skills and responsibilities that will guide your work. Based on that, we put together a set of guidelines to serve as a framework for the position.
Behavior and Wellness Coordinator – Role Overview
Core Responsibilities
1. Behavior Management & School Climate
Monitor and maintain positive student behavior across classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces.
Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) for students who need support.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to address behavioral concerns in a restorative, solution-oriented manner.
Lead disciplinary meetings with students and families as needed, ensuring they are supportive and growth-focused.
Promote consistent school-wide behavior expectations and recognition systems (e.g., PBIS or merit systems).
2. Counseling & Student Support
Provide short-term individual or group counseling to students dealing with emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.
Refer students to licensed mental health professionals or external agencies when necessary.
Support students with conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and stress management techniques.
Act as a point of contact for students experiencing personal difficulties or family-related issues impacting school performance.
3. Wellness Programming
Plan and facilitate school-wide wellness initiatives: mindfulness sessions, anti-bullying campaigns, mental health awareness, etc.
Create and implement age-appropriate workshops around emotional intelligence, digital safety, peer pressure, and more.
Coordinate with teachers to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into the curriculum.
4. Crisis Response & Prevention
Lead or participate in the school crisis response team (e.g., suicide prevention, conflict de-escalation).
Train staff in trauma-informed practices and behavioral de-escalation techniques.
Establish protocols for students in distress and provide follow-up care and support.
5. Family & Staff Collaboration
Serve as a liaison between the school and families to address behavioral or emotional concerns.
Provide training or informational sessions for parents on behavior, mental health, or digital safety.
Support staff with professional development related to classroom management and student well-being.
